With the Social Security Administration (SSA) bogged down with millions of claims for Social Security Disability lawyer, the agency recently announced it would be expanding a list of conditions that allow for a fast track to receiving benefits.

The Mercury reports the program allows individuals with certain permanent and debilitating conditions to receive Social Security Disability benefits after being diagnosed without having to provide a full medical history as others are required to do. The 35 conditions that were recently added to the list now expand the number of “Compassionate Allowance Conditions” to more than 200 ailments, including certain cancers and adult brain disorders. Since the inception of the program, approximately 200,000 individuals have received benefits.

The conditions were chosen by a panel of experts working with the SSA over the course of seven meetings five years ago. During that time, the group was also able to overhaul the application process for those suffering from these conditions in order to make it more streamlined and to create a faster turnaround on claims.

The article went on to point out, if preparing to file a claim or if you have a claim that has been denied, consulting with a qualified attorney may be extremely beneficial.
