Michel L. Starkey

Michel L. Starkey was raised in Clinton, Indiana and graduated from South Vermillion High School in 1992. Michel then attended Ball State University in 1995 and graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree.

Michel started working for the lawyers at Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin in 1998 while attending law school at Indiana University’s Robert H. McKinney School of Law, where she graduated in May of 2004.

Now based in Terre Haute, Michel is admitted to practice law in Indiana and Illinois, and she focuses her practice on Social Security Disability cases. She says her experiences, knowledge of the law, and professional rapport with administrative law judges are each beneficial in helping clients prepare for hearings.

Michel is a council member of the Indiana State Bar Association’s Social Security Disability Section. She is also a member of the American Bar Association, the Vigo County/Terre Haute City Bar Association, and the Illinois State Bar Association.

Michel enjoys giving back to her community and participates in activities and initiatives with the League of Terre Haute, 100+ Women Who Care, and United Way of the Wabash Valley. She is an active member of Centenary United Methodist Church, a board member for United Campus Ministries of Terre Haute, and serves on the Alumni Advisory Committee for Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women at DePauw University.

When Michel isn’t advocating on behalf of clients, she enjoys running half-marathons and traveling with her family.
