These individuals, who are often children and teenagers, may then receive\u00a0<strong><a href=\"\/\/www.lawyersforsocialsecurity.com\/supplemental-security-income\/available-benefits.php\">Supplemental Security Income<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In an effort to boost services for recipients of the program, the Obama Administration announced earlier this week it would be a launching a program called, \u201cPromoting Readiness of Minors in Supplemental Security Income (PROMISE)\u201d. According to an article from\u00a0<em><a href=\"\/\/www.disabilityscoop.com\/2013\/05\/22\/feds-eye-outcomes-ssi\/18002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Disability Scoop<\/a><\/em>, the campaign is designed to create better education and career opportunities for Supplemental Security Income recipients who are between the ages of 14 and 16.<\/p>\n<p>Up to $10 million per years is available for as many as five years for states that are selected to participate in the program. The grants are then to be used to create initiatives and programs that will achieve the goal of helping these teens better their opportunities in life.<\/p>\n<p>Studies have shown that many of the one million children who receive Supplemental Security Income depend on the benefits their entire lives.
