If you make this request within five years after the month your SSD benefits stopped, you will not have to file a new application.<\/p>\n<p>Because of your medical condition, if you work, you may pay for some extra expenses that people without disabilities do not need. For example, you may need to take a taxi to work instead of using public transportation.
