The series of 30-second television commercials feature Patty Duke and George Takei and are posted to the SSA’s YouTube page. Most of the ads are done as a spoof to the television program, with each of the commercials discussing new Social Security features, including electronic deposits and online services. Others give applicants a step-by-step process to file for disability benefits through an online portal.
The ads are being done as a fun and exciting way to get the public interested in and using these new services.
