Over the past several years, a backlog of unprocessed Social Security Disability benefits claims has accumulated to the point where hundreds of thousands of individuals are awaiting decisions. The Social Security Administration (SSA) has suggested the problem has resulted from an archaic, paper-based process for filing claims.
The Social Security Disability Lawyers with Newlin Disability say the agency has also implemented several other new pieces of digital technology aimed at creating more efficient means of serving the disabled.
A Press Release from the SSA states one of the major changes being implemented is Social Security recipients can no longer receive benefit verification letters at their local SSA offices. Instead, they are able to receive the documentation by logging into their online Social Security Disability account and printing the letter off, saving all parties involved both time and money.
Other Social Security Disability Changes for 2014 include the SSA inability to provide Social Security number printouts to recipients due to the potential for fraud and misuse. Any claimant who needs proof of their number must now file for a replacement Social Security card.
